There was a lot of excitement for Chelsea’s match because of the outrageously good transfer window and a lot of exciting new faces.
Unfortunately, among the new signings only Kai Havertz and Timo Werner were able to make their debuts.
The Starting XI was far from their best as Christian Pulisic, Mateo Kovacic, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva were all missing, with Cezar Azplicueta coming off the bench to play a few minutes.
Werner gave his all in the match, moving in an out around the offense, linking with other players, and showcasing his electric pace which allowed Chelsea to win the penalty, which as usual was calmly converted by Jorginho.
The biggest highlight of the match was Reece James rounding off a really good performance with a stunner and his first ever Premier League goal from 30 yards out, within 100 seconds of Lucas Trossard equalizing for Brighton.
Kai Havertz, being deployed on the wing, not in his most favored position, could not much activity from him on the right side, except a few layoffs to Reece James.
Late in to the game Zouma managed to score a deflected goal to assure the 3 points for Frank Lampard’s side.
