Michy Batshuayi has today agreed a one-year contract extension at Chelsea and joined Crystal Palace on loan for the 2020/21 campaign.
With Timo Werner arriving for a first-team spot at Chelsea to battle Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud, Batshuayi always seemed likely to leave after falling the pecking order last season.
Before completing a loan move to Crystal Palace, Michy Batshuayi agreed to a new one-year contract extension at Chelsea.
Palace was initially interested in a loan move for Youngster Conor Gallagher, but rules dictate that teams can sign only one player on loan from each Premier League club. Hence they have decided to opt for a Striker instead of a Midfielder.
Batshuayi’s latest loan move sees him returning to the south London club where he spent four months in the first part of 2019, scoring six goals in 13 appearances.
Departure of Batshuayi, will now allow Billy Gilmour to take the 23 squad number at Chelsea for the 2020/21 campaign.
